Terms of use
What this site is
Majesta.Net publishes open source software. This site is a brand landing, a live catalogue of public repositories under the MajestaNet GitHub organisation, and a notebook of notes. It is not a hosted software service, a marketplace, or a place where we sell goods.
Reading the site is free. There are no accounts, subscriptions, or support contracts offered through these pages. Using the site does not create a professional-services or support relationship with us.
This website is not the software
This website — including its source, notes, article media, and brand artwork — is proprietary. Viewing the published site or the public GitHub tree does not grant you a licence to copy, modify, or reuse that material, except as copyright law already allows. See the website repository LICENSE.
Open source projects listed on the site are published in separate repositories. Each project’s licence, contribution terms, and disclaimers are in that repository. Those licence terms govern that software. If these terms of use and a project’s licence conflict, the project’s licence prevails for that software.
Notes
Notes are general information and opinion. They are not legal, financial, security, or other professional advice. They may be incomplete or become out of date. Do not rely on them as the basis for a decision. Links to other sites are for convenience; we do not control those sites and we are not responsible for them.
Open source projects
Software in MajestaNet repositories is offered under the licence stated in the relevant repository, usually on an “as is” basis and without warranty, to the extent the law allows. You decide whether to use it, and you must comply with its licence. We are not obliged to maintain, patch, host, or support any project unless we agree with you in writing.
If you contribute to a project, you do that on GitHub, under that repository’s licence and GitHub’s terms — not through this site.
Our name and artwork
The Majesta.Net name, wordmarks, globe symbol, and other brand artwork are our trade marks. You may not use them except with our written permission, or as the law already permits (for example, a fair reference to the software or to this site).
Acceptable use
Use the site only for ordinary browsing and reading. Do not attempt to disrupt it, overload it, or use it for anything unlawful. If you find a security issue, email hello@majesta.net as described in our security policy.
Hosting and GitHub
The site is hosted by Netlify. The home page asks GitHub’s public API from your browser for the organisation’s public repositories. Netlify and GitHub have their own terms. We are not responsible for their services, availability, or policies.
Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy conferred by the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- the site, the notes, and any software are provided as is, without warranties of any kind, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement;
- we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site, the notes, or any project, including indirect or consequential loss, loss of data, or loss of profit; and
- if we are liable to you and that liability cannot be excluded, our liability is limited to, at our option, re-supplying the relevant services or paying the cost of having them supplied again.
Changes
We may change the site and these terms. The current version is the one on this page. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept the updated terms.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. That choice of law does not take away any right you cannot contract out of where you live. If a dispute is heard in court, the courts of Victoria may hear it.

What we collect — and what we do not
We may only collect and retain your email address if you enquire directly via this site and its listed contact details. Today that means writing to hello@majesta.net. If you send a message, we will also have whatever you choose to put in it (for example your name, or a GitHub handle).
There are no accounts, newsletters, contact forms, advertising pixels, or analytics scripts on these pages. We do not set first-party cookies. Ordinary browsing does not give us your email address.
Your browser may keep a short-lived copy of the public GitHub repository list in session storage so the project catalogue need not ask GitHub on every visit. That copy stays on your device. We do not receive it.
How we use an enquiry
If you email us, we use that correspondence only to read and respond to your enquiry, and to keep an ordinary business record of it. We do not use your email for marketing. We do not sell it. We do not add you to a list.
We keep it only for as long as we reasonably need it for that enquiry and those records, then we delete it from our records. If you ask us to delete it sooner, we will, unless we are required by law to keep a copy.
If you contact the MajestaNet organisation on GitHub instead, GitHub handles that under its own terms and privacy statement. That is not a collection by this site.
Hosting, GitHub, and email
Netlify hosts the site. Their infrastructure may process technical request data (such as IP address, browser type, and timestamps) in order to serve the pages and keep them secure. See Netlify’s privacy policy.
The home page requests GitHub’s public API from your browser. That request is made by your browser to GitHub, not through our servers, and is subject to GitHub’s privacy statement.
Those providers may store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States. If you email us, your message also passes through our email provider, which may be outside Australia. We do not control those systems.
Who we disclose to
We do not disclose your email address except:
- to our email and hosting providers, as needed to operate the site and receive mail;
- if the law requires us to; or
- if you ask us to.
Changes
We may update this policy. The current version is the one on this page. If we start collecting more than enquiry email, we will say so here before we do.
